Selene, a Greek word for Moon, is the personification of the moon as a goddess. They worshipped her at new moons as well full moons. Every night, she travels across the sky in her chariot, pulling the moon behind her. The moon has played an important role in human history and culture for as long as we have existed on this planet. The moon is a goddess, a deity, a calendar, a source of light for those who travel at night, something that shapes who you are in astrology, an omen, an enchanted place for adventurers to visit in fables and a motive to use in fairytales. Sometimes even I wonder what coincidences lead to the moon being the exact size she needed to be to perfectly cover the sun during an eclipse. It’s almost too perfect.

This pendant is a love letter to the moon. The design is taken straight from a fairytale about witches, brave adventurers, magic and enchanted starry skies. The design feature rows of crescent moons and full moons that are hammered, texturized, formed and soldered into this mythical sphere shape in our Forge.

This necklace can be worn as a choker pendant as well as in a longer regular chain. You can choose between a big and small dainty version (the sphere is either 25 x 25 mm or 20 x 20 mm). This design also comes in matching earrings and a hinged version that works like a round locket – you’re very welcome to hang out with us here in the Forest Forge as you look through our other creations.
